Winona Laura Horowitz who is professionally known by the name Winona Ryder was born in Winona Minnesota. The parents of her daughter named her the city she grew up in after her birthplace. Her father Michel Horowitz, and mother Cynthia Palmer are authors and editors. Ryder, who considers herself Jewish, is descended from Ryder's Jewish father. Ryder is the youngest sister of Uria who is half-sister to Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder's parents moved her and their children in Mendocino County California when Ryder turned seven.
